WHO Says Eleven Injured in Israeli Strike Near Lebanon Hospital
In a post on the US social media platform X, Tedros said the hospital—described as one of the busiest trauma centers in southern Lebanon—was hit indirectly by two Israeli strikes on Sunday and Tuesday.
He said the damage affected the emergency department, including ventilators, monitors, stretchers, and trolleys, while the pharmacy and outpatient clinics were also impacted.
According to Tedros, the WHO is assisting with urgent repairs as medical services continue under difficult conditions.
He also said that since the start of Israeli attacks in March, the organization has documented 133 strikes affecting health care facilities, resulting in 88 deaths and 206 injuries. He added that multiple hospitals and primary health centers have been damaged or forced to shut down due to the attacks.
“I reiterate the call for the immediate protection of health care facilities, health workers, ambulances and patients,” he said.
