Italy’s Foreign Minister Visits China for Trade Forum, Global Talks
Antonio Tajani is set to meet Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Commerce Minister Wang Wentao. He will also co-chair the 16th Joint Economic Commission and the Italy–China Business Dialogue in Beijing, which will take place from Thursday through Friday, the Italian Foreign Ministry said.
The agenda for the meetings includes key global issues such as developments in the Middle East, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, and attention to Pakistan’s mediation efforts in regional diplomacy, along with the ongoing war between Moscow and Kyiv.
According to the ministry, Tajani is expected to stress Italy’s hope that China will take a more active role in helping to end hostilities and support the launch of credible peace negotiations.
Alongside geopolitical discussions, strengthening economic cooperation between Italy and China is also a central focus of the visit.
Tajani is also scheduled to travel to Shanghai over the weekend, where he will meet representatives of the Italian business community operating in China.
