Modi Says Ukraine, Middle East Conflicts Impact Entire World
Speaking at a press briefing after the meeting, Modi said, “Today, the entire world is passing through a very serious and tense situation, and its impact is being felt by all of us.”
He added that in such a strained global environment, India and Austria share the view that military conflict is not a viable solution to international disputes. “Whether it is Ukraine or West Asia, we support a stable, sustainable, and lasting peace,” he said.
His remarks came amid heightened regional tensions following a US-Israeli offensive on Iran that, according to reports, has resulted in more than 3,300 deaths since February 28. A temporary two-week ceasefire between Washington and Tehran was announced on April 8.
Modi also said on the US social media platform X that his talks with Stocker were “very productive discussions,” highlighting cooperation in innovation, infrastructure, and sustainability.
He further noted that both countries aim to strengthen trade and investment ties, adding that sectors such as defense and semiconductors hold “immense potential for closer relations.”
